Gary Price, Environmental Coordinator and Mary Hite, Stormwater Outreach Assistant had a great time at the Lexington County Blowfish baseball double header on June 26 presenting Trash the Poop with a fun Toss the Poop carnival game that was well received. This season, the Blowfish theme is the “Lexington County Fair” so our game of skill was a carnival game. Before and during this time dog owners received dog waste bag dispensers and played the game. Some fans were relieved that we were giving the bag dispensers out because they forgot theirs. Other fans displayed their tossing skills and won a prize! The theme was that pet waste left on the ground, in addition to being unsightly, smelly and nasty to step in, is also a source of pollution of our local waterways. Storm water runoff can wash pet waste into a storm drain that leads directly to a body of water.
The next time The Lexington Countywide Stormwater Consortium is scheduled to be at the ball park for more fun, games and education on how the public can improve the water quality in our streams is Friday, July 26th (Fireworks Night). Come out to support your local Lexington County baseball team and visit our game booth.
