A Lexington County recycling event will be held at Batesburg-Leesville High School on Saturday, March 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for Lexington County residents (no businesses). Items being collected for recycling are:
Paper to be shredded onsite (up to 5 bags or boxes only)
Electronics (up to 8 electronic items [small items and computer components are bundled to count as one item]).
Tires (no limit)

Join the Lexington County Herb Bunch on Saturday April 6th from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. for the 8th Annual “It’s All About Herbs” Festival. Festival admission is free for all at the Lexington County Museum. Activities include a plant sale with many varieties of herbs, herb and plant related vendors, food vendors, free herb mini-demonstrations, and a silent auction. Did you know that vegetation is important to a cleaner earth and cleaner waterways? Learn how and why at an interactive display at the It’s All About Herbs” Festival presented by the Lexington Countywide Stormwater Consortium. Test your knowledge at a Spin-The-Wheel game and win prizes!
Peach Tree Rock Heritage Preserve at comprises 460 acres in Lexington County and is co-managed by the S.C. Chapter of the Nature Conservancy (TNC). The Preserve is a native long leaf pine forest that includes a 2.4 mile loop trail and features a waterfall. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, bird watching and is accessible year-round.
On Saturday, April 27th, a 50th anniversary celebration of the Nature Preserve will be held from 10:00 a.m.—2:00 p.m. This family friendly event features guided hikes, activities for children and displays by local Conservation groups. The Lexington Countywide Stormwater Consortium will have a table display with SWAG (stuff we all get) for those who visit and learn about water quality. This public recycling drop-off event will be conducted at Irmo High School in the square parking lot on the corner of Wescott Rd. and St. Andrews Rd. It begins at 8:OO a.m. and ends promptly at 12:00 p.m. Events are held, rain or shine, but details are subject to change. To confirm details one week prior to events, call (803) 785-3340.
This drop-off event is for the convenience of residents from Lexington and Richland Counties. Material generated by businesses will not be accepted.

The Lexington Countywide Stormwater Consortium is hosting a Build Your Own Rain Barrel Workshop on Friday, October 25th beginning with a class from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at Lexington County Fire Services, 436 Ball Park Road, Lexington SC and culminating with actually making a rain barrel to use at your home in the garages at Public Works nearby from 10:30 – 12:00 p.m. The registration deadline is October 21, 2019. Class space is limited to the first 25 paid registrants.
At this workshop you will learn about stormwater runoff pollution, how rain barrels help reduce this pollution that enters our waterways, and be shown how to make a rain barrel to use at your home. A recycling drop-off event will be held at Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens for residents of Richland and Lexington Counties on Saturday, February 29 from 9:00 a.m – 1:00 p.m. Enter the Event using the Main Entrance – To the left before railroad tracks.
